Mash Ups

Whew! Just finished semester 2. Another interesting subject: Mashups. I added Caestecker library to map-builder after watching the directions. I'm happy to say I'm the first at our library because it wasn't there already. My mind is blank right now as to how to use mash-ups for our library but it's nice to know that it exists. Thanks Project Play for all the time you put into this. I think it was a very useful course.

YouTube

I just learned how to embed a video into my blog! Cool, I feel so professional.

When searching Youtube I was a little overwhelmed, so many videos out there. It clearly was going to take time and patience to find the videos I was interested in. Then I remembered that I had seen a few videos in some of the blogs I now follow - yea, they did the editing for me.

I see this a neat tool for libraries to put on their website. When creating one, I see that you definitely need a creative eye in writing it and putting it together. The other thought is "youtube video of the week", where you could feature a new video every so often on the library web site and promote it so people come to check in often.

Thank you to the creators of Project Play. I have played and learned! Thanks.

The Last Knit

Another Knitting YouTube that is a bit longer than the last one I posted.

screencasts

Another good idea to walk you through different computer applications. I think it would be nice if we could create a library of computer tutorials such as Excel and even Word, I know I don't use all the bells and whistles because I don't even know they are there.

Podcasts

Podcasts are another way to chain you to your computer!! Seriously, they're great but for busy people it is a guilty pleasure. I think it would be great on a library website, I liked the idea of putting a speaker on although would this not encourage live attendance?
